Shri Jagannath Mandir And Odisha Arts & Cultural Centre

The Jagannath mandir is located in the town of Bahadurgarh in Uttarakhand, India. It is considered a no-fly zone. It is one of the most sacred places for Hindus. The temple is home to Lord Shree Jagannath. You can see His iconography and learn about His significance in Hinduism.

His iconography

There are two important symbols in the iconography of the Jagannath mandir. The first is the wooden stump that houses the two large wooden eyes, one representing the sun, the other the moon. The eyes are circular, which distinguishes Jagannath from the other abstract icons. The second symbol is the absence of the legs, neck, and ears. These three symbols are further decorated to give the appearance of a complete image of Shri Jagannath. The third symbol is the Vaishnava U-mark which is found on the forehead of the Lord.

His significance to Hinduism

The importance of the Shree Jagannath temple can be traced back to medieval times. This temple is a vital place of worship for both Vaishnavites and Hindus. It is believed that the red flag over the Vishnu Chakra, the temple’s highest point, indicates the presence of the Lord. The temple’s idol is carved from wood and replaced at regular intervals.

His no-fly zone

The state government of Odisha has declared an area around the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri as a no-fly zone. This restriction will remain in place throughout the Nabakalebara Yatra, from July 14 to August 5. The decision was taken after a high-level review meeting that examined traffic and crowd control, and the local administration decided to implement the restrictions.

His proximity to Hauz Khas

In Hauz Khas, Delhi, there is a Shri Jagannath Mandir that is a popular tourist attraction. The temple is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a Hindu god who symbolizes universal love. The temple is constructed in imitation of the famous Jagannath Temple in Puri. The intricately carved and marbled temple features statues of Lord Jagannath and Balabhadra. The best time to visit the temple is during the Rath Yatra festival. Visitors must keep in mind that cameras are not allowed inside the temple premises.

Accessibility

Accessibility of Shri Jagannath temple is one of the major issues facing the temple. Wheelchairs are not allowed inside the temple. However, a three-member delegation of priests visited the temple to ensure that people in wheelchairs can enter the temple.
